Toff London Celebrates the Platinum Jubilee

This year marks the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. With all of the excitement that has been building, an additional bank holiday being gifted to us all, the opening of the new Elizabeth underground line, Toff London's Limited Edition Platinum Jubilee watch with free keyring and planned street parties. Some of you may be wondering what is the Platinum Jubilee all about?

Well - Jubilee, simply means celebration of, this dates back to biblical times where, every seven years, soil would be left for a period of time to reset and restore itself. Nowadays it is in honour of our Royals milestones of reign and life, with this year being quite a sensation!

We are celebrating 70 years since Our Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne after the passing of her father George VI. No other British Monarch has ever held the throne as long as our current Queen which is what makes this year's milestone so extraordinary!

If you are wondering why Platinum, it would seem that the Jubilees follow the same symbols used in wedding anniversaries which, if I am right, will make the 80th Jubilee - oak, we will have to wait to see...

Now for the fun part. How can you get involved in the festivities…

There are so many events taking place over this long weekend from family days out, tea and day parties, festivals and an estimated 2,400 registered street parties in the UK! This should be enough to fill you with the buzz. But if you are more interested in traditional forms of celebration, then make sure not to miss the Trooping of Colour. This ceremony is performed by hundreds of horses, musicians and around 1,400 soldiers at Buckingham Palace and should give us a glimpse of a few Royals from the balcony!

Across the nation on Television there will be plenty of shows joining in this joyous event providing the answers to many wondered questions, even including what dessert to serve? Simple answer - Jemma Melvin's lemon Swiss roll and amaretti trifle. With more to come especially If you're a soap fan! Rumour has it that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will be making a cameo.
